Emulation
Toad emulation for Linux
Toad is an anachronism for TV On A Disk and is a Linux based version of Cemu.
This emu method pretty much requires a standalone PC and as with all emu, your
boxkeys. Here is your checklist
Emulation cable
AVR with appropriate IRD2PC flashed on (using Jeepers)
PC (P200 or higher is recommended)
Toad
Custom dish.bin file (dish.bin or rev381
for bev)
WinImage
1) Extract the toad distro using WinImage. Make sure you use WinImage to format
the floppy as well.
2) Copy cemu.ini file to your HD and edit appropriately:
a) Com port
b) RecvID
c) CamID
d) Boxkeys
e) Rom bin path
f) Dish bin path
(One thing of note: Linux refers to com ports as "ttys"'s.
For com one use/dev/ttyS0, for com two
/dev/ttyS1 and so on)
3) Copy the edited cemu.ini back to the floppy
4) Copy your dish.bin to the floppy
5) Connect your emu cable
6) Dump the memory on your IRD and unplug
for 10 seconds or so
7) Boot your PC with the floppy inserted (ensure PC bois has floppy as first
boot device)
8) Power on the IRD when PC booted
9) It will take a few seconds to grab the keys, then you should be viewing
Standard emulation troubleshooting applies in the event of an issue. Here is an
example of a working
cemu.ini file.
