What
hardware is required and where do I start?
The answer to this question really depends on what you want to do in the world
of testing. Each method has it's own shopping list of items required. I have
included in this FAQ a shopping list for each method of testing which should
help you out. There are a few items of note that may or may not influence your
choice of testing networks:
1) DishNet has and will continue to send TSOP altering ECM's that may render
your IRD dead until you restore the software. This may get tiring after awhile!
You cannot lock your TSOP using hardware methods and test with AVR as it results
in a NAG; digital TSOP lock only. Emulation and Atmega128 are good choices for
Dish testing at this time.
